Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. There are many traditions in the church that are not of the Lord. Just because they are traditions, does NOT means they are true. A few false traditions are: 1. Calvinism 2. Armenian 3. Christmas trees (Would the Lord endorse ruining the environment by chopping millions or so trees?) 4. Jesus's birth date (It was not December 25th. Would the shepherd [Lk 2:8-20] be crazy enough to freeze to death with their sheeps?) 5. Jesus's crucifixion and resurrection dates. (Explain Mk 16:1 and Lk 23:56 if you believe the Friday-Sunday theory.) During His time on earth, Jesus opposed many traditions such as 1. Washing hands, pots, pans, etc. before meals. 2. Not healing anyone on the Sabbath. 3. Not plucking grains on the Sabbath. Traditions are good if biblical, but harms the church if not biblical. On many issues, it is useful to erase everything and start from scratch. For more, look at "Eph 4:30" (ephesian.txt). Unlike Calvinism and Armenian, the Ephesian doctrine comes DIRECTLY from the bible. No interpretation or twisting of the scripture. Also, look at "Believe: do you pisteou?" (believe.txt). There is a misunderstanding of the word, believe. ********** All scriptures are from the Updated King James Version bible which can found at http://www.geocities.com/updatedkjv/ .
