Mt 7:21-23 Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, all of you that work iniquity. An important part of ensuring salvation is to obey the Lord. There is two extremes in disobeying the Lord: 1) refusal to serve the Lord (disobeying the Lord's call) and 2) working to appease God (fulfilling one's agenda instead of the Lord's agenda). After Christians are born-again for some time, the Lord will put them to work (there is so much to do to build God's kingdom). The Holy Spirit will prompt Christians to serve the Lord. If one continuously ignore the Lord's calling, the Holy Spirit will be grieved. Worst, one starts to lose one's salvation (Eph 5:30). Works have nothing to do with salvation. Apostle James never wrote that we are saved by works. Rather, if we have true faith, works will naturally derive. There are many people whom work, work, work, hoping they can justify entering into God's kingdom. They have their own idea on what the church should be like instead of following the Lord's plan. Unfortunately, these people cause problems for God's kingdom. True ministry is people-oriented, not work-oriented. It is about bringing other people closer to the Lord (relationally). It is "Once Saved" + "Commitment to Jesus" = "Always Saved" where "Commitment to Jesus" means - having an active faith, - living a life of repentance, and - obeying the Lord. Obedience is an important part of ensuring one's salvation. ********** All scriptures are from the Updated King James Version bible which can found at http://www.geocities.com/updatedkjv/ .
