A MAJOR sin (as cited below) can hinder your entry to heaven, whether you are a Christian or not. The question is what is the effect of MINOR sins? 1 Jn 5:16-17 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. There is a sin that does not lead to death. This sin does not cause someone to lose salvation. Nevertheless, it still is an abomination in God's eyes. Jesus obtained forgiveness for us thru His blood shed on the cross, even for future sins. In other words, our future sins are atoned for. Nevertheless, do NOT ABUSE this fact by sinning WILLFULLY. Mt 6:14-15 For if all of you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if all of you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Mt 7:21-3 Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, all of you that work iniquity. 1 Cor 6:9-10 Know all of you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of God. Eph 5:5 For this all of you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Rev 22:14-15 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie. There are MAJOR sins that are more serious in God's eyes. These MAJOR sins can cost one's salvation. An incomplete list, based on the above verses, are: - unforgiveness - disobedience - fornication - idolatry - adultery - effemination (cross-sex dressers) - sodomy - stealing - covetousness - drunkeness - reviling - extortion - uncleanness - lasciviousness - witchcraft (sorcery) - hatred - variance - worldy jealousies - wrath - strife - seditions - heresies - Envyings - murders - revellings - whoremonger - lies 1 Jn 3:3 And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure. An example of a MINOR sin is the sin of omission (there are other examples). A MINOR sin may not cost one's salvation, but nevertheless it should be repented of. When one sins, one starts a downward spinal of sins, and get worse and worse until one repents. While a MINOR sin may not cost one's salvation, one starts to get worse and worse, and commits a MAJOR sin. An example is someone sees porns for a brief moment on the internet. Then one gradually becomes addicted to seeing porns. Then one secretly see prostitutes during the nights. Then one steals to pay for the addiction. Then one murders to get the monies. Seeing porn for a brief moment may not cost one's salvation, but that person spirals downward and commits MAJOR sins of fornication, stealing, and murder. Where one crosses the salvation line, I do not know. Each case is unique, but somewhere in this process, that person grieves the Holy Spirit. It is important to repent of all sins, MAJOR or MINOR. And to live with the FEAR OF THE LORD. If you know you did something wrong, repent! And if you know something is wrong, do not do it. It is CONDITIONAL salvation based on whether we TRY to live correctly with the Lord. Sure we all goof and committed sins, and Jesus's blood shed on the cross paid for future sins. Just repent and move on.
