Heb 10:29 Of how much greater punishment, suppose all of you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace? It will be a worse eternity for those whom were saved, and then, fall away. Some says these were never Christians to start with. WRONG!!! The above verse says they were sanctified, and hence, they were washed by the blood of the lamb. Then they counted this blood as an unholy thing and grieved (as in Eph 4:30) the (Holy) Spirit of grace. This verse alone says that it is possible for Christians to fall away. Further analysis ... The expression, "he was sanctified", comes from the Greek word, hagiazo. The Strong's Definition (#37) of this word is 1. to render or acknowledge, or to be venerable or hallow 2. to separate from profane things and dedicate to God 1. consecrate things to God 2. dedicate people to God 3. to purify 1. to cleanse externally 2. to purify by expiation: free from the guilt of sin 3. to purify internally by renewing of the soul The verse is referring to someone already separated from profane things and dedicated to God. This person is saved and the punishment will be worse if this person loses salvation. ********** All scriptures are from the Updated King James Version bible which can found at http://www.geocities.com/updatedkjv/ .
